The Doorstep Shuffle is a kit that compares to the once in a lifetime classic ... Lovetone Doppelganger. Original units are as rare as a rare thing so that makes it prime for a DIY project in my humble opinion.
To surmise what this beast does is somewhat of a disservice to its genius, but in short its a four-stage optical phaser. Each of the 4 phases have different frequencies and using the various controls across the board gives you a plethora of awesome tones. So to say its probably the best phaser in the world, is about right. I love it and I'm so pleased with the kit.
